Compuscan Credit Reference Bureau in Uganda, a subsidiary of Compuscan Information Technologies based in South Africa, and licensed by Bank of Uganda to run and operate the country’s credit reference bureau, is pleased to announce to clients, and all stakeholders, that Compuscan Holdings and ScoreSharp, a specialist credit scoring and risk management consultancy have concluded a definitive agreement to merge the organisations which will see ScoreSharp form part of the Compuscan Group.
The merger brings with it a number of benefits to both Compuscan and ScoreSharp clients following an already established relationship between the two companies. Since the onset of their business partnership ScoreSharp has assisted Compuscan with the provision of value added services including strategic consulting, data analytics and predictive modelling solutions including the already well known CompuScore. Incorporating the expertise of ScoreSharp into the Compuscan stable will allow both companies to better meet the needs of their customers and ensure superior service delivery and innovative solutions.
The merger holds tremendous advantages for clients, shareholders and employees of both Compuscan and ScoreSharp as it marks the bringing together of two successful, mission-driven organisations with a shared vision of being the leading partner in credit risk management. The merger will produce business advantages for both entities, including opportunities for future growth, financial stability and future sustainability.
Remo Lenisa, Group Managing Director of Compuscan, said of the merger: “This is a significant move that accelerates our strategy and positions us as a leader in the credit industry by offering even greater value to our customers and partners. In addition to the clear strategic benefits of merging two highly complementary organisations it allows us access to new growth opportunities and positions us in a leadership role within the market. I look forward to the potential that this merger holds both for the company and our clients.”
Peter van Heerden, Managing Director of ScoreSharp, says “Through the collective experience, expertise and knowledge gained as result of the merger, it gives us added depth and innovation in our solutions offerings. I strongly believe that we will have most satisfied customers as a result of this merger.”
In regard to how this impacts institutions and borrowers in Uganda, Mike Malan (MD Compuscan CRB Uganda) had the following to say: “Over the past few years of establishing the credit bureau the key focus has been around identifying customers and collecting data about how payments are made. With a significant database available now on repayment history, the result of this merger is excellently timed. Compuscan with the assistance of the ScoreSharp team of expert credit risk analysts will be developing Uganda’s first credit scores to take lending to yet another new first.”
